Healthy Living Beats Colon Cancer

Healthy Living Beats Colon CancerYet another research report shows that healthy living beats colon cancer. We know that a plant-based diet (not necessarily vegan or vegetarian… just mostly plants) goes a long way in preventing many chronic illnesses. An especially interesting aspect of this study is that it applied to those who had already been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Even for this population, healthy living beats colon cancer. There is always hope and with a holistic mindset there are also better outcomes.

More than 1.3 million Americans are diagnosed with colon cancer, but new research suggests that adopting a healthy lifestyle goes a long way toward boosting survival.

The study followed nearly 1,000 patients with advanced colon cancer for an average of seven years. It found that people who ate right and exercised had a 42 percent lower risk of dying during the study period, compared to those who had less healthy lifestyles.

The take-home message: “Having a health body weight, being physically active, and eating a diet rich in vegetables, fruits and whole grains after a diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer was associated with a longer survival,” the researchers reported April 12 in the journal JAMA Oncology.

Lupus and your gut microbiome

Lupus and the Gut Microbiome

The podcast explores the relationship between lupus and gut microbiome, emphasizing how gut health may influence autoimmune responses in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Research indicates that dietary changes, particularly the Mediterranean diet, and strategies like probiotics could potentially improve SLE management by modulating gut bacteria, although more studies are needed.

Health is like a three-legged stool and optimal health requires all three. HealthCare Too recognizes this and always promotes items to help with Mind, Body, and Spirit.
