Loneliness Is Deadly

We need to rethink Loneliness. This has become far more than a quick feeling of isolation while friends or family are away. Loneliness has become a lifestyle and is a deadly precursor to many diseases. Like many other Lifestyle diseases, the treatment goes beyond a pharmaceutical or surgery.

While the US continues to come to grips with failures in health care, we must address these growing Lifestyle disease threats. For example, the US Government spent over $30 billion for “meaningful use” of Electronic Healthcare Record systems that still do not interoperate and are roundly hated by clinicians. Perhaps it is time to invest in Meaningful Relationships to combat Loneliness?

Loneliness is deadlier than obesity and should be considered a major public health hazard, the biggest ever review into the problem has suggested.

Researchers in the US looked at 218 studies into the health effects of social isolation and loneliness involving nearly four million people.

They discovered that lonely people had a 50 per cent increased risk of early death, compared to those with good social connections. In contrast, obesity raises the chance of dying before the age of 70 by around 30 per cent.

Lupus and your gut microbiome

Lupus and the Gut Microbiome

The podcast explores the relationship between lupus and gut microbiome, emphasizing how gut health may influence autoimmune responses in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Research indicates that dietary changes, particularly the Mediterranean diet, and strategies like probiotics could potentially improve SLE management by modulating gut bacteria, although more studies are needed.

Health is like a three-legged stool and optimal health requires all three. HealthCare Too recognizes this and always promotes items to help with Mind, Body, and Spirit.
